Dungeon Fantasy Faery Legends
There are legends that the elves, goblin-kin, trolls, dwarves, gnomes, and halflings were all descended from faeries in the faery realm. It is rumored that when they came to the mundane world they had to become mortal and they lost most of their magical powers. There are stories of faery elves that wield mighty magic in a land where time does not flow at the same speed or the same direction. It is rumored that there are faery dwarves who forged weapons for the gods, they are even said to have made the chain that held Fenris. There are also rumored, unfortunately, to be faery goblins who poison food and foul the land with their touch, and they may be faery trolls who cast curses and go by the name troll-wives.
There is also said to be faery mushrooms that grow in the mortal world in rings that may provide gateways for faeries to enter our world. It is said the faery mushroom, if eaten can act as a random magic portion, but it is also said that a trained alchemist can use a faery mushroom to create any potion he wants just by using his alchemy skill.
Another rumor is that of the Red Cap hat. It is said that whoever wears a red cap hat becomes tremendously strong but also gains the desire to murder people to get blood to soak the cap in. It is also said that the longer a person wears it the longer his claws become as well as the more he begins to look like a Red Cap. Also there may be Red Cap iron boots that allow the wearer to run at any speed he wishes but unfortunately it is said that the person also desire to stomp on other people, as the boots are said to inflict horrible wounds.
One legend that we know is completely untrue is that of a beautiful but wicked elf queen who united other nasty faeries to wage a war against the good faeries. We know that when she was defeated, she was never turned into a spider and cast into Hell. That we do know.
