Central and Eastern Europe have some population growth, at least in places, don't they?

It's just that emigration swallows most of it up in the case of many countries.

Not plausible? It's everyday reality. Four ninths of the world's population live in countries where the birth rate is below replacement level.
Temporary and localized exceptions, no matter how "extreme", still don't do much to change the global human average.
National averages are cute, but it's the entire system that matters now more than ever before.

I'm sorry, but I don't think reality is going to mind whether you believe in it or not.
Our views of reality differ quite markedly. On nearly every serious thread we have dissagreed. Why should this one be any different?

I certainly believe human knowledge of physics and engineering overcoming apparent universal limits is more likely than the majority of the human race changing base human nature.

I think that with this issue we have almost no chance of changing each other's minds. Since I don't want to mangle this lovely thread's proper purpose, I say we just table this side discussion. Ok?

Ummm... because while you're entitled to your own opinions you're kind of limited to the same facts as the rest of us?

If more than 40% of the human race is already living under conditions markedly different from your predictions, couldn't it be that this is not a function of human nature at all or at the very least, that your belief of what human nature is might be flawed?

Argh. I finally have a long weekend to design spacecraft and generate star systems and I have missed my opportunity. A plague upon my schedule.

Oh well. The comments certainly are interesting, even if I did dally too long to get the actual spreadsheet. I suppose I will wait anxiously for the beta version.

I am completely happy with specific gravities (but are you going to use 1 = Earth's density or 1 = water's density - I much prefer the latter), and atmospheres.

I had to make assumptions about carrying capacity at TL 11 and TL 12. I'll put spaces on the control panel for designers to enter their own assumptions if they wish.
That is a very good idea, as those numbers are actually of some use when putting in one's own colonies, etc. Thanks.

Agemegos, it sounds like you've been working overtime to create a really detailed system generator. Sadly, I cannot seem to access that link from my PC. I'll try again later.

Nice. After a brief look, I'm pretty impressed. I'll try to tool with it a bit more, but I was quite pleased to see that it lists maximum habitability. That way, I can tell solver to iterate until a given habitability is found. Anyway, thanks again man!
