Exiles and governments-in-exile. Have their views changed?

People who consider themselves to live in territory occupied by a foreign government, which properly belongs to a different government. What's happened to them?

People who subscribe to ideologies that consider territorial governments unimportant. There are varieties of Islamism and Communism where adherence to the group counts for far more than the place they happen to live. What are they doing now?
