The book is ready to go! It's just a matter out of Kromm's and Christopher's hands with scheduling from the Powers-That-Be who sit between Kromm and Steve Jackson himself in the Celestial Hierarchy...

Yeah, I have zero control over this. Best thing you can do is continue to be hype and talk about it wherever you talk about games. We need this to be a huge splash - I'll be honest: I need this to be a huge splash. If you want more stuff out of me, this is how you do it. Otherwise...I'm not sure. Buy GURPS Meta-Tech, get everyone at your table to buy it. Talk about it. Go places other than here and talk about it. Show examples. Whatever. Just do it more out there then here.

Yes, you can build a mecha as if it were a character and then assign it a price, power needs, etc. as a meta-tech device. This is one of the areas where a genuine expansion could be done with more detailed guidelines on what trait needs what where.

Been trying to get my Zen on. Thought I'd post something from one of my favorite video games of all time:

Final Fantasy 6 Magitek Armor (TL3+3^)
Size: SM +2.
Type: Vehicle.
Origin: Magitek (-0.1 BCM).
Duration: 1 VL/6 hours
Operating Skill: Driving (Mecha) and Gunner (Beam).
Cost: $60,480.
Weight: 3,000 lbs.
LC: 2.

The Empire’s elite soldiers learn how to pilot magitek armor increasing their lethality in the field. The base model is straight forward with heavy armor plating to protect itself and a modest magical shield generator for the pilot. It can blast enemies with a solid beam of magical energy doing 7d+3(2) tight-beam burning, though the range is a mere 10 yards. It can also kick (3d+3 crushing at Reach C-2) or claw (3d cutting; Reach C-1).
It's powered by magically siphoned Esper essence that is then contained within a battery housing unit. These batteries can be recharged normally by a magitek generator.
Use the following for when it’s piloted:

DRIVING (MECHA) (BATTLESUIT at -3 or other Driving specialties at -5)
ST/HP 30
Hnd/SR 2/4
HT 12
Move 11/22
LWt. 1.6

Meta-Tech Statistics ($60,480; 140 points at $432/point): Burning Attack 7d+3 (Armor Divisor (2), +50%; Magical, -10%; Nuisance Effect, Max Range is 1/2D, -10%; Surge, +20%; Tight-Beam, +0%) [59] + Magitek Armor Racial Template [81]. The process and fuel required to make functioning magitek armor is known to a very few thus increasing cost by 2. It’s also technically 2 TLs above the rest of the technology in the setting and thus final price is 4¥.

I loved this example, it's very close to what I'm trying to do. I'm another one wanting to get the book on day one.

Thanks, y'all. ^_^

Vehicles, Robots, and Battlesuits require a bit of work. If I had my way a theoretical Meta-Tech 2 or Pyramid articles would have a full on build guide for these things. In that case I'd mimic what Sean did in Zombies for the "Build a Zombie" bit of that fantastic book.

The playtest for this has drilled into me double-checking all of the math... so it was the first thing I did upon seeing your example (sorry).

The Magitek Armor Racial Template totals 81 points, not 91.

For the Burning Attack, I don't know if it's because I'm rounding the +3 incorrectly (going by memory) but I get 59 points, not 60. I'm assuming 7d+3 is (7.75 x 5 =) 39 points, +150% in modifiers gives (58.5, rounded to) 59.

In total it's therefore worth (81 + 59 =) 140 points.

So at your listed $432/point, that's $60,480 as its base retail price.

As you mentioned, you'd then multiply by rarity (x2) and TL factors (x4), so fair retail price for the setting would be ($60,480 x 2 x 4 =) $483,840.
