I read the book that quoted a Norse Law code and mentioned similar legal restrictions in the other Nordic countries when I was in college around 1980. The Book was not new, though I haven't a clue how old it was. I haven't been near that library in forty years. But the memory is clear. Valkyries were listed with other human occupations. Not treated as a supernatural being type.
