I would argue halfway between times 1 and times 2 is times sqrt(2), so 40% greater than a human's would be.

The info in the Half-Breeds section says the result is midway between the two. So for Shorty, 150% human normal.
If you want to add some variance, use one of the tricks from a lot of the d20 games and let the player pick which breed the character favors. Whether this moves the result to 100% of one of the parents or maybe 75% toward the favored might keep all 1/2 breeds from being exact copies. Only allow the sqrt(2) thing if Shorty takes the Mathematician talent. Otherwise he has no clue how to calculate how much he can carry and has to leave everything at home. |
