Default List of The Fantasy Trip Articles

So, a long time ago I put together a list of articles for The Fantasy Trip from various periodicals. It didn't have much in it because there wasn't a lot out there, mostly just The Space Gamer and Interplay.

I expanded it as articles came out, because I wanted to know what articles were in an old periodical before I bought it -- there's little more aggravating to me than bidding on an old magazine on eBay because it has a Pendragon article (for example) and then finding out when it arrived that it was just a review. RPGGeek is pretty good for this, but it doesn't have everything.

In the last few years, I fell behind a bit. Recently I went through and put in the Hexagrams, now that my KS stuff has come in. I also need to pick up issue #1 of Cauldron for Heroes and Other Worlds (as it's TFT-adjacent).

I'm indebted to HerkNav and Rick_Smith for providing the information on the hard-to-find TFT 'zines Goblin Keep, Inept Adept, and Fantasy Forum. I'd love to fill out more info, but am very grateful for what I have.

The spreadsheet is here if anyone's interested. Please feel free to give me feedback.

Now we just need a place where folks who own or have access to the various obscure and hard-to-find publications can share their content. The article titles mostly serve to peak my interest for things I am never likely to find in the wild.

Thanks for this. Step 1 in finding something is knowing it exists. Step 2 is learning where it was located. Step 3 is obtaining a copy of the magic publication. I have some of those early Dragons. For those that don't, there have been collections issued on CD-ROM back when those were cool. Possible some of the other publications can be found the same way.

Dragon and the Judges Guild publications show up reasonably frequently on eBay. Some of the others are indeed tricky. The Alarums and Excursions issues can actually be had for a reasonable price straight from Lee Gold!

Well, this is annoying. A while ago, I found few issues of Sinkadus, a slickly-produced Swedish gaming magazine from 1983-1995, mainly to find a few hard-to-locate articles for Traveller. In many issues, they'd have a page of reviews of fanzines available at the time. In issue #32, they have the following blurb:

Quote:
THE BEHOLDER. No. 1-2/91. A5, 44p. 60:— to pg. 43 39 61—0 (Dragon's: Den) for 4 issues.

Linköping's association Dragon's Den is the largest and one of the oldest of Sweden's role-playing clubs, and arranges every year the gaming giant Lincon. The association's age unfortunately means that it contains many older, tone-setting players, who despise Swedish role-playing games because they know nothing about them, but also that they are old enough to have learned the art of producing a well-written and high-quality membership magazine, The Beholder, with articles for almost all possible English-language board and role-playing games. And with the generational change that is currently taking place in the association, they will also publish material for Swedish role-playing games in the future, from what I understand.

The main feature of the 1-2/91 double issue is a 25-page article on the upcoming 2nd edition of the board game Civilization — a presentation of the new rules and a commentary on them. A must for all Civilization players.

The second feature is the campaign setting for Steve Jackson's old RPG The Fantasy Trip. The value of it is of course limited by the fact that the game is basically impossible to get hold of now. If you're unlucky with The Beholder, it only contains articles for games you can't play, but on the other hand, this applies to all RPG fanzines (and Sinkadus!). The Beholder is definitely one of Sweden's best RPG fanzines.
A while back I found a web archive of a few issues of The Beholder that fans had scanned in. Sadly, the #1-2 issue from 1991 is not one of them. Does anybody have this and know what the article is about? Would be great if it was about Cidri!
