Default Another rules query - ramplates and DMs

This has only just occurred to me... when I used to play out was still the old double-and-half ramplates damage rules. Then, it didn't matter whether you did the plate modification or the DM modification first.

Now it does. None of the official sources I have say which happens first. What do you guys do?

For my part: We did DM first, for all involved units, then applied ramplate mods. (Tho' in our case, since we pre-dated the Curtailing Of The Ramplate, we simply deleted the "2x damage" part of the rules.)

DM is a 'damage modifier', so do it last. A semi with a DM of 10 does ram damage x 10. So apply the ram plate first, then modify

That's how I'd implemented it in my spreadsheet, without really noticing the issue at the time - DM last. (I'm a former research mathematician and teacher of 20 years, with unusually good mental arithmetic even for that, and it's still quicker to put it in the tablet even if everybody has DM 1...)

Speaking of which, I'm very tempted to try to do something a tiny bit more realistic. It always bugged me that a fully loaded pickup came off equally to a skinny mid or heavy compact. I'd probably do change of speed for damage (doubling up on the dice chart to keep it in the right area for game balance), and treat them as low elasticity collisions, using mass to the nearest thousand pounds. Prohibitively tedious by hand, but if I'm using a phone anyway, no reason why not.
