Default Ghosts and Pirates

Munchkin Scooby-Doo! introduces Ghosts and Pirates as swarm monsters (such as undead and many other).
Since there is no indication about if and how can we consider monsters from other sets to be a Ghost or a Pirate when merged with Scooby-Doo, can we considfer a monster from another set to be a Ghost|Pirate when it has "ghost"|"pirate" in its name, and maybe even when the card text states it's one (for example Captain Hook from Munchkin Disney)?
Can we consider this as a general guideline for the swarm monsters that have no specific instruction about this issue?
I know that this can be easily covered by an home rule (and it is, for my decks), but I'm interested in knowing what do you think about it, if it's reasonable, if you would use better ones, and so on... Thanks!
