If a spell is bought and paid for, initial cost or maintenance cost, does it endure to the end of its paid for time or does it end immediately upon death of the caster? I thought this was in the rules but could not find it.
Examples: - A wizard casts blur on a friend and is maintaining every turn until an arrow takes down the wizard. The friend is in melee and the blue was maintained for the rest of the turn. Does it end now despite being paid for, or does it last to the turns end? - A wizard casts a 3-Hex Fire then dies with 7 turns remain on the spell. Does the fire continue to burn for 7 more turns? Same can be asked about Walls, Shadows and Rope spells, each which lasts 12 turns. The rules are clear that illusions disappear immediately on the wizard's death. And that summoned creatures remain the rest of the turn. So, there are examples of both immediate ending and lasting. I am inclined to go with lasting but want to see what others seen or if there is a rule I missed. |
