If your concept is a bunch of experienced Citizens finding themselves unexpectedly in an adventuring setup, you might want to require a number of talents be spent on their background. A town blacksmith should have at least 1 point in mundane talent Blacksmith. If she is a Master blacksmith maybe the cost is 2 or 3 points. Add in Business Sense(2), Recognize Value(1), Armourer(1) and probably Area Knowledge(1) and Literacy(1). To explain her current lack of funds/hardship, maybe her shop burned down for 'reasons'.

Allow the players a little slack to wheel and deal at the beginning of the game to both establish their character and provide them some provisions. That slack doesn't have to be cash. Barter in goods or working off things could also be helpful. Maybe the wizard has a Soothe spell that as he travels, he goes to hospitals on the way and offers to Soothe the patients for a fee at night so he can rest the fatigue off in his sleep. Allow one of the PCs to be a spy in the employ of foreigners and has regular postings that he gets paid for. Some juicy tidbits gets more $. --------------------- I know party members who routinely thieve to get money every session.

I'm working on my first TFT campaign. For my players new to TFT, I drafted a sheet of beginning character (32 pts) Professions based on the WFRP 1st ed Careers, with only IQ 12 or less Talents.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/jgbsj4l3ro...sions.pdf?dl=0 Shameless plug here... I also developed some play aids. https://forums.sjgames.com/showthread.php?t=172757 Last edited by noirFan; 08-21-2023 at 08:42 AM. |

Still seems to generate an error. The other ones work though. Thanks for pointing them out.
I had my first game two weeks ago, but it was largely character gen, with only the very beginning of the actual adventure being started. I have thoughts, but would rather wait until I run my first full session tomorrow night before I collect them. |

It does work now. These templates look useful. However, for a cleaner presentation, I'd recommend omitting the IQ prerequisite for talents and spells.

Thank you Noir for the aids. As for the subject of this thread, sounds like a fun challenge. How can one join the group?
