Let's say that I find in a dungeon an enchanted ring belonging to a giant or to a tiny faerie... what can I do with it?

Can I still make use of its magic properties even if carrying/wielding the object in an "unorthodox way"?

What if the under/oversized item is a piece of clothing, armor or a weapon? Are there any rules to manage the situation?
