Thanks Swordtart, I hadn't noticed that the article wasn't specific as to vehicle (with the size of the weapons I just assumed they were for cars and larger), I'll re-read the article properly with a rule lawyers eye :-)
In my defence I was distracted by the Rocket sidecar and Big Guns

I was after squeezing a slightly smaller Fixed "big gun" onto a retro manual geared bike somehow by shaving a bit weight here, a bit of space there and have an amount of House Rules from the interweb

Tinkering around with found House Rules I could have a Fixed RR for 150wt plus ammo, but still for 2 spaces alas, for example

Always open to more House rules though, bikes have it tough!

There's a different auto-combat game out there which had a solution to the "bikes have it tough" problem: Most weapons and accessories had a "cycle version", which was ~1/2 the weight of the "car version", but also carried fewer rounds, or didn't quite have the range, or what-have-one (this prevented the cars using cycle components, and developing even-greater advantage).

Hiya 43Supporter, I've seen somewhere (Houserule) that bikes have $500 ABS, so I'll hit the books for useful toys at some point. I'll aim for half price but I'm sure there'll be extra techno-gubbins involved for some prices.

I usually load my bikes with 10 shots so suggest a Houserule 20 shot mags take (do 10 shots/20 x many deeply considered/bodged thought out calculations, but give me time) less space. It'll be a small fraction for sure, but I'm sure I can take advantage with a Light Cycle's streamlining being 0.4 space or Heavy for 0.7 space (unless I've missed extra ruling for space calculation...)

ABS is $1,000 across the board -- I think you're thinking of HD Brakes, which is $100-per-wheel; so would be 1/2 (or 2/3 with a sidecar) price.

"Short-loading" weapons on cycles is a time-honored method of reducing the cost and weight of a weapon -- there's an _ADQ_ adventure with a cycle/sidecar which has two MGs with 10 shots each linked on the sidecar, and *no* weapons on the main bike; given the light armor of the unit, it doesn't need all 20 shots the one MG can carry, so why bother? .:)

Yep, quite agree about the street-legal $1k ABS but I'm sure I've seen a completely unofficial/ suggestion/ totally illegal suggestion somewhere - perhaps even somewhere on this forum, maybe on "stuff that should exist"?

Quite agree again, I'm just thinking that, as a Houserule, bikes could have smaller ammo boxes, say min 5 shots?, "for a price" - that space could be used for something else, like I dunno a MiniRocket/ .05/ .1/ .2 space thing?

I'm just after playing around squeezing down the price/space (and effectiveness) of weapons with no intention of entering any Tournaments.
Ach c'mon, y'know you want to see a Ridiculously Huge Gun mounted on a Pizza bike wobbling off ... :-)_

You could just see how many passengers armed with double barrel Gyrosluggers with an underbarrel gyroslugger you could put on. That's up to 6d+6 weapon and I think the gyroslugger can be laser guided.

A MPRL with laser guidance tied to the laser scope is more credible and definitely sanctioned. Each shot is quite expensive, but it's as light as anything. A squadron of bikes with a pillion riders firing a MPRL over the riders shoulder... the stuff of legends :)

And also a Spoiler on a Cycle should probably only weigh as much as 5pts of it's Armour . Spoiler I've seen on a Motorbike is only around two feet wide - compared to five feet or more on most cars .

I have adopted fixed mounts for bikes. As a tripod weapon is half the weight of the vehicular version I argue that 50% of the vehicular weapon is the traverse mechanism. If you are willing to do without that an boresight it you can hard mount the weapon. It is fired as if it is on automatic i.e. locked down the centre of the arc straight ahead or behind, you get no targeting modifiers for gunner or computers, you can't target tires etc. The hard mount costs and weighs the same as a tripod for that weapon.

To save space you can mount outside armour. You can mount the same spaces of external weapons as you could EWPs without taking any internal spaces. External weapons do not benefit from armour.

You chances to hit are lower, but you bikers can concentrate on cyclist skill. Send enough waves in and you are good to go. Classic rat patrol :)

Oops, I'd quite forgotten about the tripod/fixing to the bike!

I've happily blagged your Dreg Gang and external CA mods already :-) , but hadn't really thought about Fixed weapons on EWPs before ...

Less Gunner = More Bikerrrr!!!
