how many times you go out and find the moon the exact moment you see at the sky?
sometimes you have to look around to find it... so at least 2 or 3 attempts at finding the moon on a clear sky. and that is if you don't add anything for contrasting background and treating it as a source of light at night. |

If you said yes, you're probably wrong unless you were up before dawn, It's nearly new right now and wasn't up most of the night. Can you say for [certain] it hadn't changed and got a new surface blemish since the previous night? I actually think 50% odds to notice something significant about the full moon might be generous.

You're also at -5 for light level. So that brings it down to 4.6 percents.

Are you? That's a point addressed up thread. It may be night where you are, but the [moon] is in full sunlight unless there is an eclipse happening

For what it's worth, there have been times I have been told "look at the moon" and it has taken a few seconds of searching to work out exactly which direction I am supposed to be looking.

For me, when I have my players roll to notice something or to do something, or when I roll for them, I treat failures as it just taking them longer to do it.
Looking for the moon could take a second or several. |

I like this in general, because I'm GOING to pick up my dropped keys. It might take me one second (hah!), or I fumble for 30 seconds. Or I have to get up and get out of my car because how the heck did they fall so deeply into that crevice?

This is also how I've been treating tasks that take time lately. Totally a a houserule, but it makes sense.
