The case for mimics in TFT

Detect Traps won't spot them.

Which brings up the following questions:

Can Alertness (or even the untalented) spot slimes (answer is no by ITL 69 and then yes when specifically looking for them by ITL 76)
Can a Naturalist spot an ambush by intelligent creatures or only the non-intelligent, and if so what is the dividing line? Apes, Ogres, Neanderthals?
Is there anything that both Detect Traps and Naturalist help spot? Are there some cases between the two where Alertness helps but not the other two? (Other than intelligent foes ambushing as above, and perhaps spotting a small item in a room that was not deliberately hidden by man or beast?)

Your question (3) has interested me. Sometimes, a grumpy gardener might use plants as a defense against trespassers. Pit trap plants are one possibility. Archer bushes or Am Bushes are another. I usually require a Naturalist roll to spot a dangerous plant, but Alertness would be plausible if the plant was intentionally positioned as a defensive trap.

Just a thought.
