More seriously, even sharpened I'd be inclined to call the damage crushing, for similar reasons to why short spikes are crushing instead of impaling - while it penetrates flesh, it doesn't really function like cutting (note how Skallagrim notes it tends to bite in and pry open, which really isn't cutting behavior), and is primarily an impact weapon.
