The most surprising thing to me is that the counters on the Rules Box and Dropped Weapons Pack come punched already.

Stands to reason - these boxes are incredibly heavy already, and why ship chipboard you don't have to? Also, it fits with the ethos of ruthlessly pruning any obstacle between the box opening and actual gameplay.

You do get an unpunched core set countersheet with the road tiles, though. I don't think there's a way to get an unpunched dropped weapons countersheet atm.

As a player of the clam-cased edition of Car Wars, those punched tokens stood out to me also! I remember needing to carefully cut the unpunched counter sheets provided with early SJ games. It was a right of passage to not mess up your counters.

I cannot wait to get my mitts on this. I've done all I can to tamp down the flames, but the froth is starting to boil over. I so want this to be GREAT!

Yeah, I really hope I get mine in time to do a demo in my FLGS before Christmas. Not likely as I am not in the states, but Canada so, maybe?

I haven't received my Double Ace yet, but did receive the Playmat Bundle yesterday (Sunday).
Square tube was damaged, but the rubberized mats inside were unharmed. Mat 2 was in the tube loose, while the other two had plastic keeping them rolled. Mat 1 looked like a retail product, except the cards included were taped to the outside. I was unable to open the box cleanly. I'd like to use the box for transportation and storage, but am going to need another solution.

Now I *have* to make sure I keep my outermost box intact -- think of the rarity value! ;)

I'll probably pick up another poster tube for the mats.

Another good item for storing mats are drafting storage tubes.

Going to use 4inch PVC pipe for mat storage. They used to be cheaper than art tunes, now they're a bit more. BUT they are waterproof and it takes deliberate effort to crush them.
