"Help Me Out Here" card

The requirement is that the card would change your combat from "losing" to "winning". It does not stipulate that future cards cannot change the battle.
HMOH lets you "take" the other user's card, so it is effectively yours. If it was a one-shot played into the combat, it would be discarded. If it was a permanent item, you would leave it equipped.
