Perhaps TFT takes place in alternate universe where the three dimensions of space are skewed.

I've noticed the larger creatures are made of heavier, thicker cardstock - this makes sense because thicker counters = taller.

Imagine what a monster you would be if transported into such a realm. What terror you would strike into its inhabitants as you effortlessly leap over the roofs of their homes and jump to the top of their strongest citadels with ease.
