Annihilation (or O Rlyeh) on side-quest card

Can I play "Annihilation" or "O Rlyeh" card on "Side-Quest" card to cancel it?

I'm going to say no, because these aren't really cards that get played, so much as goals that you reveal when you complete them.

I will applaud the idea as Munchkinly though.
