Playing class during combat

can you use during combat an item from your hand (not "usable once only") that you forgot to put on the table before combat?

i think a mod cut my reply to an old thread and made a new thread (that lost meaning, also the title is not about the topic)

the question is about munchkin booty. during combat, can a merchant equip an item (not "usable once only") he forgot to put on table (from his hand)?

No. The Merchant ability lets you shift cards that are in play, but not cards that are in your hand.
