Stating custom firearms

Spreadsheet 1 simplified Doug's spreadsheet so that you need only enter in four things:

1) Bullet Mass in grains
2) Bullet velocity in feet per second
3) Bullet diameter
4) Aspect ratio

If you don't know the aspect ratio, approximate it with:

1:1 = perfect sphere
2:1 = pistol caliber bullets
3:1 = Rifle caliber bullets

That's it - that's all you need for the simplified version of Doug's spreadsheet.

Spreadsheet 2 uses the same approach from the simplified data entry from spreadsheet 1. This sheet however, was an attempt to fill in as much data for as many real world black powder bullets as my reference books contained.

Some of the bullet data in the second spreadsheet is incomplete, such as the .22-15 Stevens entry, where I could not find Muzzle velocity. But in general, it has sufficient information that should help you to wing it for weapons not listed in either of GURPS HIGH TECH or ADVENTURE GUNS.

Also, if you want the GDF for ADVENTURE GUNS, let me know. I've created the data file for use with GURPS CHARACTER ASSISTANT so that it could be used with that program. And yes, I've run some GURPS OLD WEST campaigns on FANTASY GROUNDS. ;)

Someday, I'm going to map out a few "Old West" towns using the material from WHITEWASH CITY for use with FANTASY GROUNDS and run a full fledge campaign again.

The last campaign I ran? Involved a Train on the Kansas Pacific Railroad line between Kansas and Denver. Had some fun with that one.
