Okay. So the "inradius" is 18". And as quick calculation: the vertex to vertex distance is 1.1547 yards (41.6 inches) -- that's twice the "circumradius" And each hex side is 20.8 inches.
So two people standing in one hex is
very cozy.
Easiest way to visualize would be to get six 20.8" lengths and lay them out.
