Actually, based on _Second Stage Lensman_, it just might. There was a passage that at least implied that it could.

Actually, it would mostly be a matter of cognitive processing for it to be able to do so. The sensitive could Perceive the molecules of the air, and their vibrational motion, and from that in principle 'sound' could be derived, if the mind in question could so process the data.

Thats more how I remember it, and Tregonsee was a Rigelan which if I recall right had no hearing.So Perception could not work to give you a sense your mid did not understand.
