But it's not a guarantee against being hit. It's certainly useful and very cheap and also has the advantage that it works against spells and missiles, but it doesn't protect against the lucky blow. I generally prefer Avert, especially against single powerful foes, but Blur is good where there are multiple opponents and perhaps ranged attacks.

Depends on the amount of damage. Typically if penetrating damage would be less than 4 or so armor will be better.
