Since there is a lot of dice chat on here right now, I though I'd bring up some possible modifier dice. These are rolled to modify the result of another roll, for example a reaction roll. There are other designs for such things out there, but I didn't find ones quite like these that I am proposing. You can view a plan for the dice here - http://shadekeep.com/files/modifier_dice.png
Basically you roll the top die, and if you get the square-with-a-plus symbol, then roll the lower die. This should mean that most of the time modifiers will be modest, but occasionally much more significant. Not sure how much utility value these have, but figured I put 'em out there. |

I can't think of any circumstances in TFT where a rule suggests a random modifier. Do you have some sort of house rule in mind that would make use of these?

Yeah, it's mostly house-rule stuff and just a way of introducing additional randomness at times. Like I say, may not be all that useful, and probably overcomplicated for TFT, where "simple is best" is the watchword.
One thing it might be useful for is varying the stats of enemies, such as animals. Say you have a pack of dogs. These all tend to have the same stats, but you might modify their individual ST or DX using these dice. Once again, that somewhat runs against the grain of TFT's core simplicity, and is not likely to appeal to everyone. But there may be cases where some variability is desirable. |

I get you now. Yes, variations in critters is something that I do on the fly in an ad hoc way, but that would be better if it were expressed in the rules.

You could probably just use "Fate" dice to do the same kind of thing...
