Assuming that you start with UC III then to get to Unarmed Combat V requires:

ST 12 DX 14 IQ 14, UC IV(3) and UC V(4)

That's 40 attribute points (8300 XP) plus seven skill points (3500 XP)

For that same 11800 XP we get say

ST 6 DX 13 IQ 20 Mana 20 and seven spells past IQ 17

Every D20 system character level has got to count for around 1k TFT XPs.
