One key point is that the box is hinged (on the left), like a book. The whole top doesn't slide up, like the big TFT box. The top right edge comes up, while the left one stays in place.
I was a bit puzzled at first, then checked the video that Phil posted, which reminded me about the hinge. After that, just a little squeeze with one hand and pull with the other thumb, and the right side of the top popped open. The right-hand edge of the top lid has some little tabs that fit into slots in the right-hand edge of the lid, inside the box. The squeeze helps push those holes further out along the tabs. Prying straight up means you're trying to shear off those tabs sideways, so that won't help much. To make the box easier to open, once you open it once, you might take a file (or rasp, sandpaper, or your whittlin' dagger) and make those tabs a little shorter, so they don't fit so far into the holes. |
