Default Craft Golem

This is an alchemist formula for building out of clay a regular earth elemental(page 86) with the following modifications. The alchemist specifies before starting how much ST the golem will have and it then takes one week for every five (or fraction of five) ST to craft the golem. Once completed the GM reveals if the alchemist had rolled an exact critical failure (16 on three dice, or 21 on four dice if the alchemist didn't have the Potter mundane skill) on the crafting rolls during this time as the new elemental is then immediately free of control. Anything above that number would have caused a lab explosion of course.

While under the original control of the alchemist the golem resists Control Elemental (and various amulets) with the alchemist's IQ and will attempt to win its freedom with weekly 3/IQ contests of its IQ of 8 against the alchemist's. While under this original control it will obey the verbal orders of the alchemist. If it wins its freedom or is put under another's control it is more or less a regular earth elemental. Crafting requires the complete ashes of a humanoid and then $10 of clay per week's crafting. The creator gets a bonus on the initial control rolls equal to the reaction bonus (or minus if negative) the departed had towards the alchemist.

The golem's native environment for regaining ST are thick untouched beds of clay such as found on many undeveloped riverbanks. As usual for earth elementals the golem can move through such environments at Insubstantiality(page 31) speeds.

Depending on where a person is on Cidri, $10 seems like it might buy a lot of clay. How much clay is that in pounds? Or does it take a certain type of clay and not necessarily use all of what you'd spend the $10 on, leaving unused scraps?

How many pounds of clay per hex of clay?

How many pounds/ST per hex of golem? (e.g. if Mudro the Gret spends all year making a ST 260 golem, how many pounds and hexes would the golem be?)

Can you make it whatever shape you want or does it need to be basically humanoid?

Can Mudro go camp by one of these rivers with clay to avoid the clay costs?

In what context is earth elementals moving through earth as if insubstantial "as usual"?

What if the departed had an actual relationship of some sort with the alchemist?

Will change to common ingredients. Elementals can merge in with their elements, but this is poorly defined for Earth. It would impact on the reaction rolls.

I've defined elementals as one hex per 15 ST. Then multiply through by the density difference from flesh to find weight.
