I think I have the balance about right here:
http://www.hcobb.com/tft/house_rules.html#Creatures Walking through one example from the book: Page 172: "Its lord, who holds the rank of Count, is an old goblin-warrior – still robust in his early 80s." The implication here is that Goblins start to decline around 80. Let's see what happens to a human warrior of age 82: Age 20: 32 attributes and no extra skills. Each year the warrior is out there killing things so let's assume he's ahead of the curve and gets 1K XP per year. Age 49: 29k XP gives 41 attribute points and the other half in talents and such. Age 50: Cut down to 40 att, save 1k XP. 51: Down to 39 but apply all 2k XP to climb back to 40. 52: Down to 39 again, 1k saved By 69 he's holding at 38 att. Age 70 to 79.5 lose 19 points and now at 29 att say ST 10 DX 10 IQ 9 Age 82: Below human minimum in at least one attribute. My house rule would put the goblin at human age 54 and so still robust.
