Speaking of Microquests, my old partner Greg Poehlein is working on an updated version of his Solo Adventure Scrambler. His original program (done back just AFTER I turned in the GrailQuest manuscript, darn it) would let you write the manuscript free form (one numbered paragraph right after another) and the program would parse the text file, scramble the paragraphs, and relink all the paragraph references automatically.
The old version was in a version of BASIC running on Mac that is no longer viable under current system software. He’s planning to recreate it in something more universal. When he finishes it, I’m sure he’ll share it.

Huh . . . I just posted a Kickstarter comment about my solo adventure paragraph scrambler.
Written in Perl. (Greg participates in one of the model rocketry forums I haunt!)

Regarding rights issues, I'm finding myself thinking about the current shenanigans going on between Victor Miller (writer of the original Friday the 13th movie) and the current rights holders to the series.
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/th...t-stake-922911 https://deadentertainment.com/2018/0...-legal-battle/ Notably, there seems to be some sort of copyright provision that after a certain amount of time (35 years?) a freelancer is allowed to re-assert ownership of rights over a freelance project. Might be something Steve would want to look into? |

I suspect the strategy that Steve used to the rights back to what he did is the 35 year rule. Recall, though, that other designers contributed solo adventures to Metagaming. It would be they who would have to do whatever legal widdgery-pokery is required to retrieve the rights.

That's precisely what he did. He reclaimed the rights to the material that HE authored. He has no rights to material that he was not the author of (though, hopefully, some of those other authors will pursue the same goal).

He may not have seen it. We’ve been talking about it for weeks. I’d be very interested to see this, if I may. It would be a heck of a boon to Microquest writers.
