If she was in combat, the bonuses go away, as those Items will only give a bonus to a specific Race, Class, or whatever. Since you can't change what Items are equipped during combat, you can't decide to unequip those Items, which might allow you to use certain cards to play/steal/equip Items when you normally wouldn't be allowed to do so.
