Actually, for big monsters some cross-pieces would be pretty nice, giving the figures some sense of volume. Kind of like these wooden dinosaur models, but with just a couple cross pieces. Maybe one for front legs, one for rear legs, and one for wings on a dragon. With some alternate cross-braced bases these could be pretty sturdy when assembled.

I would much rather have space filling bases that match the rules for mult-hex figures; it makes things like reach much easier to adjudicate.

Yeah, the current bases assume the figure will be broadside forward (for front facing), but long creatures would be shown in profile, so bases with the "clip" turned 90 degrees would be nice.

Wider figures are going to be a bit harder to do without special bases designed for them.

Big multi-hex creatures would be easiest as "plan view" pieces of cardboard, like the flat Ogres in ODE.

I was just about to say we could have 3D monsters/multi-hex creatures like the 3D OGRE pieces and you brought in the 2D ones!
