I wonder if we could get the maps in a png or jpg for easy (personal) use for VTTs?

Unfortunately, the files start getting really unwieldy really quickly if we include too many options.

But, since the files aren't copy-protected in any way, you can easily manipulate them yourself with any suitable software. If you happen to be on a Mac, it's really easy to make your own JPGs: Just open the PDF in Preview, go to View -> Thumbnails (it it's not already on that), select the page you want to export in the left-hand sidebar, go to File -> Export... , select Format:JPEG (or PNG), select the quality/resolution you want, navigate to where you want to save the file, and click "Save."

Hmmmm. Ok. Thanks! I figured it was something like that.

I use GIMP (which is free) and it can open pdfs with each page a different image or layer, and save to just about any format you want.

XPDF (also free) can dump out the JPEGs/PNGs unaltered - well, not sure the extended info is there but the image file anyways. It also conveniently can dump out the text, which I've found invaluable when making GCA files.
