Pollymorph Potion Played on a Mated Monster

So this happened in a game last night:

1. Player A kicks down the door and turns up the Wight Brothers.

2. I play mate on the Wight Brothers.

3. Player B plays Pollymorph Potion on the mate of the Wight Brothers.

4. Player A defeats the remaining Wight Brothers, but tries to claim FOUR levels for the combat.

5. I argued that Player A only gets two levels since one of the mated monsters flew away from the combat. Am I correct?

The Pollymorph'd monster has been removed from combat, leaving only its treasures. So he gets 2 levels, and 8 treasures.
