Race Change

A player is currently an Elf and decides to become a Dwarf. He said he could switch races and keep the Elf card. Is he correct? I thought the race card needed to be discarded.

In-play Race and Class cards must be discarded when you don't want them anymore. You can't have an "unused" Race or Class in play. If he wants to have both in play, he'd need Half-Breed, and be both.
