I'm not sure what you mean by "base cards." In some cases, there might be a duplication of Classes (
Munchkin Legends, for example), but often times there are very few cards that are duplicated (
Wishing Ring,
Loaded Die, and
Wandering Monster being the cards that seem the least likely to get re-named). Often times, there are new Classes, Races, or even something completely different (Accents in
Munchkin Booty, or Loyalties in
Munchkin Impossible).
However, all of these games can be blended together, sometimes with really cool effects, sometimes with really weird ones. Near the top of the
FAQ, there is some discussion in at least one of the important notes about handling how certain types of cards work, and whether they represent the same concept, or something completely separate.
