Default June 2016 FAQ update discussion thread

Here's where you can post comments and questions about the June 2016 revision of the Munchkin FAQ.

Would it be possible to highlight in some way the changes made? Maybe with different color, for easier consult?

There is a little problem, I think. Approximate 20% from december FAQ was removed in actual FAQ.

Why you remowed situations with automatically defeating monster (removed completely or replaced with a automatically killed)? Many cards still say "automatically defeat". Now there is no official FAQ that it means an automatic kill.

There would be a LOT of that color in the FAQ, and we'd have to go through and strip it all back out the next time we update (which will NOT be years from now). Really, so much of this is new or rewritten that I wanted people to read the whole thing; if y'all think it's worth flagging the changes, I have the old file and I can compare them.

I will compare and make sure nothing was removed unintentionally. Much of what was taken out dealt with the pre-2010 versions of the game and is no longer relevant. And I made a lot more use of the "Important Notes" at the start, referring readers there rather than repeating content over and over.

If there's something specific that you think was removed in error, please post about it here and I'll be sure to check.

For instance, this is something I will look at. I thought I had moved that up into the Important Notes, but perhaps I meant to and then lost the thread. This edit took weeks; I'm not going to be surprised if there were changes I meant to make that got overlooked.

Edited to add: Yep, I took that out by mistake. I've emailed the webmaster with this and a few other small fixes.

Thank you for all the comments!

question about Sword of Slaying Everything Except Squid and Lust Monster is in Munchkin section, but it is cards from Unnatural Axe.

question about Giant Octopus is in Booty section. but it is card from Jump the Shark.

Didn't see an answer in the June update that would cover this:

I'm not a Dwarf and have no ability to carry/use more than one Big item. I'm already carrying/using one. Another one comes up in treasure, which I prefer to the one I have. Is there any reason I can't discard my old Big item in favor of the new one?

I've had people tell me I can't, because Reasons. Seems weird to me.

Both correct; I've asked the webmaster to make the fix. Thanks.

Page 3 of the game rules: "You cannot discard Items 'just because.'" The rest of the paragraph elaborates on that. You can sell or trade Items you don't want, but you can't just discard them for no reason.

I would like a clarification about not being able to help someone in combat when they're already winning on their own. Even after quoting the rules: "If you cannot win a combat on your own, you may ask any other player to help you." some people still don't think it actually means you can only help a losing munchkin. I've had to google the forums to convince players in the past on this matter

That's a good call. I've asked to have that added.
