It's not QUITE that simple.
You have to try to fight it, just like any other monster. If you end up Running Away, however, you don't have to roll for that monster; it doesn't bother chasing you and you get away automatically. This distinction is important because if there are other monsters in the fight, you can't decide "I'm just ignoring this one that won't pursue me and fighting the rest." The monsters fight as a team. When you Run Away, you resolve the attempt for each monster independently, and that's when "will not pursue" matters.
