Marvel Munchkin Question

Just a quick question. The espionage agent in Marvel Munchkin says he/she gets a +2 bonus in combat when fighting alone. This seems like a really simple ability, but I can't quite figure out if it means you don't get the +2 when asking another player for help, or if it's meant to not give me +2 if I have any allies, or both. Thoughts?
