As for nausea being cheaper than the broad modifier -- yes it is. Its not a great improvement, but it is an improvement. I'm fine with the player using either.

Thanks for the replies. I wanted to try building the nausea effect from modifiers rather than afflictions simply because it's easier to build rituals on-the-fly if I don't have to look up costs for afflictions and can stick to one book.
If I did nausea as a lesser effect, would it still be acceptable to use a single effect for lowering all attribute/skill rolls, or would it be a more reasonable interpretation of the rules to treat all of those modifiers as separate effects? In other words, would it be more realistic to define the ritual as: Lesser Control Body (5) + Bestows a Penalty, -2 to ST, Broad (10) + Bestows a Penalty, -2 to DX, Broad (10)+ Bestows a Penalty, -2 to IQ, Broad (10)+ Bestows a Penalty, -2 to HT, Broad (10) + Weight, human sized victim (3) + Duration, 10 min (1) = 49 energy |
