As tournament MIB, I try to resolve edge cases as fairly as possible, but I tend to break ties in favor of the main player (not the helper) because, IMO, it's the helper's responsibility to make his required payment clear.

It's worth noting that the last time I ran a tournament, no such rules existed. I'll be sure to brush up on them if I do one in the future, though -- thanks!
