When I'm running a tournament, I make it clear that one should never assume that a fight with a "four Treasure monster" will provide four Treasures. So you always specify that the helper (not the main player) gets a fixed number of Treasures ("I'll help for two Treasures of my choice") or a simple fraction ("I'll help for half the Treasures of my choice, rounded down") -- and you should make it clear who chooses (if left unspecified, the main player always chooses).

As tournament MIB, I try to resolve edge cases as fairly as possible, but I tend to break ties in favor of the main player (not the helper) because, IMO, it's the helper's responsibility to make his required payment clear.

That's exactly NOT what the Tournament Rules say, though. I know because I wrote that sentence.

It's worth noting that the last time I ran a tournament, no such rules existed. I'll be sure to brush up on them if I do one in the future, though -- thanks!
