Does the helper have to run?

one other question, when 2 people are fighting a monster and someone adds another monster that becomes too tough to now beat, do both people have to run away or suffer the bad stuff or it just the original fighter?

Each player rolls independently. (This is clearly stated in the rules -- you can read the game rules online here.)
