The entire damage is returned:

"For armor … Some effects depend on “damage stopped,” which is always the lower of the damage rolled and the armor’s DR. … If you successfully block with an imbued shield, it usually stops and has the appropriate imbuement effect on all of the attack’s damage, unless this would be sufficient to destroy the shield (see Damage to Shields, p.
