Stealing while in combat.

If you are a thief can you steal from people while in combat? Also can people still from you while you're in combat if they are thieves?

From the rules, on page 2:

Note that a Thief cannot steal while he or the target is fighting – and as soon as a monster is revealed, the fight is on!

So, no, a Thief can't steal while in combat, nor from a target that is in combat.

A Curse that takes an Item from a player is not the same thing as a Thief stealing from that person. Curses can be played at any time (as stated in the rules), unless the card happens to say something else.
