Cursed Thingy doubled

I was just playing with my kids and my son cursed me with the cursed thingy. I played it on an item I wasn't equipped with. I didn't really need it so I left it alone for half the game. Then I pulled a second cursed thingy while kicking down a door. I could not find any reason on the card that I couldn't play it on the same item twice.

Somewhat understandably this caused a small argument. Has there ever been an official ruling on this or something similar? I couldn't find anything from searching the rules, faq, errata, or these forums.
