Police Rank Progression titles...

Going by some quick research in my local police department (modest city just up the road, since my local local police department has 9 employees):

Rank 4 - Chief
Rank 3 - Captains
Rank 2 - Lieutenants
Rank 1 - Sergeants
Rank 0 - Corporals and Officers

The NYPD goes up to Rank 7, and the Chicago PD, LAPD, and LASD go up to Rank 6. Many small departments don't even have ranks in GURPS terms, because it's just one guy.
