Curse! Hungry Backpack

Does the Curse! Hungry Backpack apply when at the end of your round you have 5 cards or less in your hand so you don't have to give charity or discard cards?
It isn't explicitly written on the card, but I guess the Curse goes away with a Wishing Ring (besides the die roll of 6) as all Curses?

Yes, it does. The Charity step of your turn involves checking to see if you have more than 5 cards. The backpack takes place just before you count your cards.

And also yes, a Wishing Ring will remove the backpack.
