Curse! Clerical Error

If I kick a Door open and draw the Curse! Clerical Error, I have to fight the first monster from the Door discard pile. If I kill it, I guess I take its level and treasure,otherwise I have to run away and possibly face some Bad Stuff,right?
Since the first card I drew was a curse and not a monster itself, do I then get to loot the room or look for trouble?

Since you faced a Monster in combat, you would get the rewards, nothing, or the Bad Stuff, all depending on the outcome, and you don't get to look for trouble or loot the room.
