Another question: normally, you can't possess any power that Static negates. Could an enhanchement like Cosmic (+50%) allow a mage to take - for example - Static: Magic (to emulate counterspells)?
? Not sure if I understand .. you want cosmic modifier to abilities to make them unblockabale? If so I think that modifier is 100% but I think You can
break down it to smaller steps giving some kind reliability number in static
field but you will need to work out few things like what to with abilities
lasting longer than 1 turn .. do you roll every turn or if power turns on it
will work to it's natural end or maybe somehow reduc it's efectivens.

Or you ant to emulate mage using advantages, make him cabale to cast
spells whille posesing advantage, I wouldgive it for free as long as he would
be influcend by static ability if he get in area where it was 'deployed', and
not protected when he is outside area. i woudn't allow modifer tha would
allow friendlysy splee/abilities to work in it's range, I woudl require cosmic
modifier on used abilities to go through static ability.

Another combination I would probably not allow, though it is not so likely to unbalance a game as using the Cosmic (from Neutralize) on Static. FTM, Neutralize looks like a better fit for counterspells, to me.

I'm still not completely sold on the idea that Cosmic +50% should allow the circumvention of the rule disallowing the possession of abilities you can negate with Static. I would note that just having Static:Magic and Magery together won't let you do anything with the Magery unless the Static is also Switchable or Discriminatory.

According to the description of both Static and Discriminatory, you cannot have Magery and Static:Magic. Switchable says nothing to counteract this, so I'd imagine it works the same way.

I'm in agreement with the points raised here. First off, you'd need the Discriminatory enhancement (+150%) to stop it from blocking your own psi/magic. Secondly, because Discriminatory still doesn't let you get around the rule that you can't have Static for a source you possess, I'd say you also need Cosmic (+50%) -- and a GM who'll allow it -- to get around that inherent rule.

Personally, I'd also only allow the combo with Resistable (-50%), because I can accept you being very resistant to your own source, but not a complete "null" for it.

(In most cases, you're better off just buying Resistant to Psi +8 [15] or high levels of Magic Resistance (Improved).)

Indeed, in one campaing I did just the oposite, I reverse engeneered the limitation on magic and created Old Magic wich was not affected by mana zones.
